Manta Glider

No airplanes in Chai. Lots of boats, but some people don't like boats. On the south-eastern edge of the island overlooking the town, there's a giant Lighthouse. Flying Mantas circle 'round the lighthouse pretty much constantly - they eat the bugs found in old fallen wood, so people come to the lighthouse to feed them sticks. After a while, people realized, hey, these things can actually support my wieght, and when trained properly, they fly more like a jet then a glider. Add to that the ability to drop liquid flash-bombs - presumably used to attract mates, as Gliders are attracted by bright light and loud sounds - and you have one hell of a mount. Mounting a Glider is an interesting affair - Hold the stick above your head and the Glider will dive in to get it. Hold onto the strap and the Glider responds by shooting low along the ground. All you have to do is hop up onto it before it gets going too fast.

Heh, this guy was a blast to design. And unlike SOME PEOPLE (eyeballs Barbarian) it came pretty easily. I would ride a Manta Glider to work. Mantas rank up there with whales in my pantheon of awesome critters.
